It's FRIDAY! At last!
It was lovely to see some new faces in school this week. We had an excellent turn out of parents join us to see F2's assembly about The Ginger Bread Man. Normally children that age are very quiet when they speak in assembly........ not ours though!
And today in assembly, it was lovely to see some new parents join us to celebrate our children's success and achievement. Millie's dancing achievements were very impressive, weren't they?
Plenty of children up for birthdays this week. I had to go and buy some more birthday bucket sweets in the week. On the way I remembered I needed a new kettle. I went into a shop and I said, "Can someone sell me a kettle." The bloke said "Kenwood" I said, "Where is he?"
Y1s have been working through their Phonics Screening this week with Miss Reed. I'm really very pleased with how well they have done. We've made a big effort to improve phonics in those early years and the results show how well that's worked. Well done Y1 children!
The week after next, beginning 29th June, is SPORTS WEEK at Highbank. We have a week packed with sporting activities ending with SPORTS DAY on Friday 3rd July. A letter will come out next week explaining the details. Briefly though, we have a Zumba Day, Potted Sports, Globetrotter Day and of course Sports Day.
Next week, school has invited two educationalists to come into school and look at what we're doing. A bit like an inspection. They will test what we've said we're doing and what we're like.
Also next week we have some more children taking part in the quad athletics and Mr Chaloner, head teacher from Farnborough School, is coming in to meet the children and do assembly on Wednesday.
Have a great week-end everyone. Don't be late on Monday.
