Thank goodness it’s Friday!!
I had a dream last night. This voice said, "On your marks, get set, go!" and I woke up with a start.
In fact on the way home last night I popped into a pet shop. I said, "Can I buy a goldfish?" The guy said, "Do you want an aquarium?"
I said, "I don't care what star sign it is."
Today has been a special day because it’s JEANS for GENES Day. We’ve raised a significant amount of money for this worthwhile charity that supports children and families who have to manage with genetic disorders. Thank you to all our children and parents for supporting us in this. If you’d like more information, please visit the website www.jeansforgenesday.org/
It feels like we’ve been back for ages now!!
We have set some dates for some exciting events that I think you will enjoy coming into school to see. These are in addition to the regular assemblies and performances:
- We are planning to hold 3 Open Day Sessions for parents to come into school. The plan is for parents to meet with me in the hall first while we register children and then go into your child’s class to see different learning. The first will be maths on November 18th. The second will be writing on January 27th and the third will be reading on March 9th. The first two Open Days will be from 9-10:00 am with a feedback session directly afterwards with me in the hall. The third session will be slightly shorter. This will give you the opportunity to see your child at work in class, see how learning is organised and take in the learning atmosphere in school. We hope you’ll be able to come.Children in F1, F2, Y1 will soon open up once each week with a ‘Stay and Read’ session for parents to bring their child into school as normal and stay and read with them. This will be a lovely opportunity to enjoy some reading time with the children. We’ll let you know when this starts.
- STORY NIGHT. Back by popular demand, Story night is booked in for December 3rd and March 17th. We look forward to seeing lots of children come back to school in their PJs for bedtime stories! The usual hot chocolate and cookies will be ready!
Other key dates for your diary are Parents’ Evening on Thursday 15th October. We hope to see as many as possible during this evening.
Other things will come up and we’ll let you know.
Attendance this year needs to reach 96%. The national average is slightly higher. If we are going to make a difference to your child’s learning, we need the children in every day. Absence does impact on children’s learning. If you are having difficulties, please let us know so that we can help before it gets too bad. If your child’s attendance falls, we will let you know anyway by letter. Always contact us to talk about this.
Look out for the latest newsletter today and the new Family Challenge. If you haven't got it, you can find it on the website.
I hope you are set for a relaxing and pleasant weekend. I’m thinking of selling my hoover, well it’s just collecting dust!
Have a good weekend.
