Welcome back to another school year.

This is my favourite time of the school year and I always look forward to seeing the children return, eager and keen to see their friends and join their new classes.

This year has been no exception and children have returned bright and smiley and incredibly SMART. Well done mums, dads and children for making such a huge effort to come to school looking so smart and ready to learn. In actual fact I was speechless when I saw our Y6 children who look amazing in their ties and sweaters. I know these children are going to set such a super example to the rest of the school as our most senior pupils.

Already many children have started to challenge me in the shiny shoe challenge! A great many thanks to mums and dads who have bought shiny new school shoes for their children. I think you’ll agree it makes such a difference.

This year I am pleased to welcome Miss Gillies in F2 who will be leading our Early Years Phase (F1, F2, Y1). She has been joined by Miss Guthrie in Nursery F1 and Miss Tomlinson in Y1.

In the Middle Phase (led by Miss Morgan) we are pleased to welcome Miss McDonald in Y3 and Mr Mayfield in Y2. We are also pleased to welcome Mr Moss who will be based in Y3 mainly.

At the top of the school, we are pleased to welcome Mrs Astle into Y6.

I am very excited about the year ahead and the staff team is building in strength to help deliver improved outcomes for children.

The first Friday Assembly will be next week on 11th September.  Our first ‘performance’ assembly will be Thursday 16th September which is the Y5 Poetry Assembly. Thursday 17th September sees the start of our Family Numeracy course which can lead to a qualification. We’d like to see as many parents as possible take part in this.

Parents evening will be Thursday 15th October 2015.

Please would all parents return the permission slips and medical updates as soon as possible. On Monday we shall be sending out the home-school agreements we’d like you to discuss with your child. It’s important to us that we work hard together to improve the provision for children in school.

Have a good weekend everyone. I look forward to seeing you all on Monday. Don’t be late and make sure children that you’ve polished your shoes!!

Mr C.
