Freezing Friday

Happy Friday Everyone,
What a cold and frosty week it’s been. I even saw some chickens rushing to get into KFC to keep warm.
In spite of the cold, our Y3/4 football team came away from their tournament with honours. They beat almost every team to finish second by one point only. What a great achievement.
This week has seen the last time we shall see Mr Hall spreading salt on the frozen footpaths. After many years at Highbank, both as man and boy, he has decided to move on to other ventures. We wish him every success for the future.
Lots and lots of children came to Story night last night. We hope you enjoyed it. Next week, Family Bingo is back on. We shall be playing two games. The Bingo Master has been practicing! There is no cost to play and prizes for lines and full house. We just want the everyone to have an enjoyable time.
Next week also sees the Teddy bear Hospital coming into school to work with our Y1 and Y2 children. This is a lovely way of introducing children to medical practice. Make sure they bring in their sick teddies! There is a second session with the children the following week.
Some of the staff are going away for a day to train to use ‘Write Dance’! We are excited to see how this would look in school. Watch this space!
We have also invited an Ofsted registered inspector into school next week to see if they agree with what we are saying about learning provision in school. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Coming up:
Head teacher’s Question Time: Weds 8th Feb
Chinese New Year Celebration (Y1/2): 7th Feb
Family Quiz Night: 9th Feb
Half Term: 13-17th Feb
Mr C’s birthday: 25th Feb!!
AND…… the new Library is open from 6th February! It will be open to parents and families each Monday and Wednesday from 3:15-4pm for you to have a look and bring your children in after school to borrow books.
Have a great weekend everyone. Don’t be late on Monday.
Mr C.
