Dear Parents
We have received the following advice from the Community Police Team at Clifton:

Community Protection, Clifton Police Station,
571 Farnborough Road, Clifton, NG11 9DG

In the past few years there have been sporadic incidents of youths entering the abandoned Fairham School site at the junction of Farnborough Road and Summerwood Lane. In the last 3 months, the amount and the severity of incidents have increased dramatically. When taking details of the young people, a large proportion appear to attend schools locally.
There have been young people regularly found inside the buildings. These buildings are in an extremely poor state of repair and are full of asbestos which is likely to have been disturbed and therefore would be extremely harmful to anyone who comes into contact with it.
Adding to that, there have been several incidents recently where buildings within the site have been intentionally set on fire. As the site is covered by tall foliage these fires are not normally noticed until they are of a considerable size. Also, due to the site not being maintained, response times for emergency services would be effected.
Taking everything above into account, the risk of serious injury or worse to anyone wishing to enter the buildings within the site is considerable. Therefore, any action taken to deter youngsters from any of the local schools from entering the Fairham School Site would be beneficial and greatly appreciated.
